Susan Zhou Placed 3rd in Ronisch Piano Competition

The Ronisch Secondary Schools Piano Competition, now in its fourth year, took place over the weekend of October 29th and 30th 2011, with the heats on Saturday and finals on Sunday.

This is the first time Susan has represented AIC at a competition and was delighted to be able to do so. The competition is open to students who have passed Grade 8 with Distinction. Participation gives students an opportunity to perform on stage at a professional venue to an audience.

Susan says "I truly enjoyed performing and this chance to be able to express myself through music and share it with the audience. The adjudicator’s comments not only pointed out the areas which I still need to improve on, but were also very encouraging, stating that my performance was “full of character and real feeling for musical gesture… A super performance showing a strong beautiful musical spirit and very good pianism.” I learned a lot from listening to the other competitors’ playing and also just from talking with them. It was a brilliant experience. All competitors played at an extremely high level and I was pleased and proud to have gained 3rd place for AIC".
