The Eton Press Casio Senior Mathematics competition for New Zealand is open to all students doing a year 12 or year 13 mathematics course and provides challenging questions for the more able students, with significant prizes, including airfares to the venue of the final paper. Hundreds of students throughout New Zealand enter this competition every year.¬ Congratulations to AIC's Catherine Chen and Cong Quoc Bao Nguyen who were in the top 100 students; congratulations also to Miles Lee and Ngoc Quyen Pham who were among the 14 finalists who were flown to Wellington for the final paper. Congratulations to Grace Lee who has won Victoria University of Wellington's International Institute of Modern Letters (IIML) National Schools Poetry award. Senior secondary students from throughout New Zealand entered the competition, and Grace's poem Eileithyia was the winner chosen from the ten finalists. Judges said they were drawn to the poem's "gusto and exuberant music of its lines and imagery".    Read more...
Congratulations to Cherie Jia, accepted for California Institute of Technology, ranked no. 1 in the world. This is an outstanding achievement. Cherie has an impressive profile. She has been selected for the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad team, received an offer also from Oxford University and established a charity which fundraised for computers for the Auckland Cerebral Palsy School.    Read more...
