Employment Opportunities

Dean of Students

Auckland International College (AIC) - This independent Y10 – 13 IB World School is seeking a permanent full time Dean of students, starting in July 2019.

AIC is an academically focused school, with a tradition of outstanding academic results and university placements. For example each year at least one student achieves the maximum 45 points in the Diploma, the College pass rate averages in the nineties and students receive nearly 300 hundred offers from TES Top 50 ranked world universities.

The College operates an ESOL course in Y10, an IBDP preparation year course in Y11 and the IB Diploma in Y12 and Y13. The Dean’s role mainly focuses on the pastoral and academic well-being, but the role also encompasses discipline and attendance. The successful candidate will, under the guidance of the Deputy Principal Pastoral, build positive and warm professional relationships with students, 60% of whom are International students and a long way from home. They will be able to operate the tried and tested systems in place as well as bring innovation and development. At AIC Deans teach, by negotiation, an approximately 60% timetable, and therefore candidates should state their teaching subjects and preferences.

The students in the College are a joy to work with as they are disciplined, motivated and respectful. You really can teach as the requirement for the application of class management strategies is minimal and there is no need to ever stamp your authority. The staff are from a wide range of backgrounds and ethnicities with many having international teaching experience.

IB Diploma teaching experience would be an advantage, but not essential, as would experience of other leadership roles, preferable in multicultural settings. Applicants must be registered with the NZ Education Council or be able to become re-registered in the time before July 2019.

If you are interested in this position please apply with a letter of application and a current CV including three referees, one of whom should be your current school leader and also please complete the college application form which can be found on the web site. Please send to HR, Michelle Hadley, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . The closing date is 23rd April.
