AIC Homestay Accommodation

Year 11 students have the choice of staying at the AIC Boarding House, or in homestay accommodation.

Homestays are rewarding for students allowing them to become a part of a family.

All homestay families comply with the Ministry of Education guidelines set out in the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016. All families are police-vetted, and regularly monitored through home visits and interviews with the student.

Homestay includes

  • A bedroom with a desk and chair for studying
  • Bedside lamp
  • Bed with linen and warm bedding
  • A heater, rubbish bin and laundry basket
  • A chest of drawers and/or wardrobe
  • Three meals a day, seven days a week
  • Initial airport pickup
  • Internet access

The students are expected to behave as a member of the family. They will be expected to help with minor chores like setting the table and doing the dishes at meal times, make their beds and keep their room tidy.

Team New Zealand were awarded 2 Silver medals, 2 Bronze medals and 2 Honourable Mentions including a Silver Medal for AIC student Arun Shanmuganatan. Arun says "I was delighted with the result, as my hard work over the previous months had finally paid off. It was an absolute honour to be surrounded by so many amazingly intelligent people and represent both the school and the country on an international level".
