It is our pleasure to congratulate our students on their university of Oxford and Cambridge successes. Five of the current Year 13 class have received an offer of place from these prestigious and world renowned centers of excellence.  The five students, the university and the subject they will study are: Arun Shanmuganathan, Cambridge, Mathematics. Choo Jia Wen, Oxford, Biological Sciences; Boyd Siripornpitak, Cambridge, Engineering; Cai Luona, Oxford, Biomedical Engineering and Choi Ji Ho, Cambridge, Natural Sciences.

It is also excellent to note that the five successful students are all of different nationality, therefore truly reflecting the international nature of the school, and also that four of them are AIC boarding students.

Only a small percentage of students who apply to these institutions receive an offer, so for a relatively small school such as ours to achieve five places is a marvelous endorsement of the caliber of the students, quality of the teachers and the university application support provided by our dedicated university counseling team here at Auckland International College

Two teams represented AIC at the Central Auckland Region Business Plan Presentations of the Young Enterprise Scheme. The business plan explains the business idea, company set-up and how the team plans to produce, market and sell their product. It also shows projected costs and expected profits. Using information from the business plan, students then pitch their business idea to a panel of outside judges.

One of the teams, ‘Echo’, was highly commended for its innovative idea and the judges were extremely complimentary about the marketability of their product. The second team, ‘Crossroads’, was awarded first place and will go on to compete at the national competition later in the year. Congratulations to the following students for representing AIC so well and to Mr Muir for his hard work in assisting and guiding these teams.

Crossroads : Samuel Shim, Danny Shin, Alex Kim, Chaeri Yoon, Phillip Kim, Jeong In Hwang, Shaun Lim

Echo: Margaret Zhou, Kelsey Lee, Roseanna Cen, Martin Lee, Jace Hong, Andrew Jun, Mona Yang
